On October 22nd, please vote Jordan Morelli for professional leadership that you can trust.

"Ultimately, leadership is not about glorious crowning acts. It's about keeping your team focused on a goal and motivated to do their best to achieve it, especially when the stakes are high and the consequences really matter. It is about laying the groundwork for others' success, and then standing back and letting them shine." --- Chris Hadfield ---

There are several reasons why I decided to run in Lakeside for the Councillor position, but the main reason is simply because many of my friends and colleagues who live in the district thought I would make a great Councillor, and they asked me run. I had been giving consideration to running for a Council position for quite a number of years, and the timing seemed to be right for me to run this year.

For the better part of the last decade, I have been active at Queen's University both on Queen's Senate and within the Queen's University Faculty Association (QUFA). Through these positions, I have a demonstrated track record of fighting for progressive causes, for fairness, and for transparency in governance. When friends, particularly those in the Reddendale area began to see the types of projects that developers were implementing, they launched an OMB appeal. They also reached out to me for advice on how to deal with the situation. I have a many friends and colleagues in Lakeside, and I am there regularly visiting, so I feel well connected to what is going on in the neighbourhood. However, as I do not live there, I have made a commitment to be regularly available in the community, and for over two months now and through the Thanksgiving weekend, I have been set up at the West Market every Saturday from 9am to 3pm with a table to chat with neighbours and a craft activity for kids, being accessible to the community and supporting local vendors.

Kingston, despite of being divided into twelve electoral districts, is not that big, and many of the issues in Lakeside are the same as in other areas of the City. That said, I am regularly at Jim Beattie Park with the kids for soccer, at Lemoine Point to enjoy the trails, enjoying Rotary Park with the kids, and attending at my partner's family doctor in Reddendale. Consequently, I feel that I am quite well informed and available to all residents of Lakeside to make me an effective voice for the community at City Hall. I would also add that I am actively looking to purchase a home in Lakeside district. Lakeside is without a doubt the most beautiful district in the City. Some of my fondest memories happened in Lakeside. My son's namesake lived in Lakeside, and it has a special place in my heart.

I would also add respectfully that although living on Mack St, through my friends and colleagues, I am probably more connected to the whole of the Lakeside community than someone living for example on Montgomery Boulevard is to someone living on Shiloh Avenue. Lakeside is a large district, and I have made a commitment to be regularly engaged in the community both with weekly drop-in sessions and semi-annual town hall style meetings. While my primary residence isn't in the district, my heart is. I am committed to being in the district and accessible if I am elected as your Councillor.

    My Commitment to You:

I am committed to applying my professional and leadership experience to ensure that Kingston City Council operates in an open and transparent manner. I will work to reduce the reliance on overpriced external consultants and insist that Council is both responsible and accountable directly to you, not hiding behind expensive consultants. The City has competent staff; we need to let them do their jobs. I will be available and accessible as your voice in city Hall.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my position on any issue, or if you have any concerns about issues happening in Lakeside or anywhere in the city.

    I can be reached by phone: 613-766-4494, cell/SMS: 613-876-5169, or email:jordan@jordanmorelli.ca.
